Just another day?

I woke up this morning to a chilly, but beautifully sunny, morning, which made a change to the rainy day I usually wake up to on my birthday. I got ready & left for work, still not having heard those words “Happy Birthday!”. My 2 kids were still in bed sound asleep. I arrived at work and my boss wished me happy birthday and gave me a birthday card then a little later one of the guys I work with, Steve, remembered it was my birthday & wished me a happy birthday. About an hour later, the other guy I work with, Tom, gave me a card & box of chocolates and asked how old I was. When I told him (the truth) he was shocked, and said he thought I was about 10 years younger than that :D
The best pressie I got and words I heard tho was when my eldest son, the one in Liverpool, rang me to say the baby was fine… His girlfriend had some bleeding on Friday and we spent the whole weekend worrying that she’d lost the baby. She had an unscheduled scan this morning which showed the baby, healthy & doing fine. We now know that she’s 8 weeks & 3 days pregnant :D
Later this afternoon my youngest son rang me at work, not to wish me happy birthday, but to ask if he could borrow a fiver!

I spent the rest of the day working and looking forward to the birthday dinner my daughter was going to be cooking for me. I arrived home… no wonderful cooking smells greet me as I open the door. My daughter was up in bed, burning up with a fever & feeling very poorly. After checking on her, running up & down the stairs with drink, mobile phone & medication, I went to find today’s mail and all my birthday cards… No cards :(

But there was a letter threatening me with court action from a loan company I haven’t dealt with in over a year!

They were threatening to take me to court for having an outstanding balance of £0.00 and for falling behind in payments to the sum of £0.00 … that’s not a typo, it IS zero, coz I don’t owe them anything!!! In bold text I was instructed to contact them within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Fine… except… where’s the contact telephone number? In fact… where’s any telephone number? This evening I rang my mum to see how she was (she’s not been well the last few days) and to let her know the good news about the baby. We spoke for about 20 minutes before she remembered to wish me happy birthday. I was beginning to feel like today was just any old day, and not my special day. Then I cooked myself my birthday dinner and sat here all alone eating it.
I think my 46th birthday can be one that is forgotten… does that mean I can claim to be a year younger than I really am? hehehe

A long Sunday

The alarm went off at 4.45am this morning (Are you mad? I hear you asking hehehe) so that I would be up in time to watch the Australian GP. It was an eventful race and I felt sorry for Jensen Button… what a place for his engine to blow up! It looked spectacular though, finish line in sight, his car racing towards to it, with flames belching out behind him!

Why did I get up so early to watch the live race? Well… that’s because I won’t be at home to watch the re-run this afternoon, as my daughter & I are off to the final day of the Ideal Home Show.

I love going round looking at all the gadgets and sampling the freebies (alcohol and foods). A couple of years ago, me & my friend managed to get a lil tipsy from all the free samples of alcohol lol. I’ve saved a fair bit of cash to take, so, no doubt, I’ll end up buying gadgets that’ll get used once or twice and then be relegated to the back of a cupboard along with all the other gadgets I’ve bought in the past hehehe.
Maybe I’ll ‘fess up to what I’ve bought in a later post ;)
